As up in the air people’s opinons of Mirror’s Edge’s gameplay is, one game aspect that most everyone can agree is superbly amazing is the theme song. Sung by Swedish rocker Lisa Miskovsky, the Mirror’s Edge “Still Alive” theme music is so delightful to the ear drum that we’ve heard it be accurately compared to angels singing a broadway symphony. You know, hardcore gaming angels on a l33t broadway stage of death. Check out the official “Still Alive” video embedded above and let yourself be taken away …
As far as music games are concerned, today is officially The Killers Day on the Xbox Live Marketplace, because both Rock Bandand Guitar Hero World Tourare offering up a heaping helping of The Killers musical tracks. So, we’re sure The Killers fanboys out there will find something to spend their Microsoft points on.
But that isn’t all, Yngwie Malmsteen, Soundgarden and Lamb of God also have musical DLC available for purchase on the Rock Band music store. Too much explaining … just hit the break for all the details and get insta-linked to the Xbox.com Marketplace.
EA has announced that the previously nebulous “January” release for Skate 2 has been narrowed to a solid January 21, 2009 release for North America with a worldwide release to follow on January 23. The company also announced that it will be releasing a new Graphics Creator web application in December that will allow users to create custom designs for in-game clothing used in Skate 2 (you mean VelocityGirl’s dream is finally a reality?). Finally, EA announced that those who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive Throwback Pack which includes “retro clothing, accessories and gestures.” We’ll take the Skate or Die T-shirt, EA, but you can keep the tie-ye, mkay?
We realize that many of our readers have long since forgotten Halloween — its memory having been replaced by slavering thoughts of turkey — but that doesn’t mean we have to forget about survival horror. In an effort to remind us — and perhaps to push a few more copies out the door — EA has released a demo for Dead Space onto the Xbox Live Marketplace (sorry, Gold members only, for now). The demo is vaguely referred to as a “Dismemberment Demo” and, frankly, we haven’t the foggiest idea what that’s about. And hey, check this out, thanks to the new online Marketplace at Xbox.com, we can do this:
Hey you! Yes, you, the fashionable gamer over there. Would you like to learn about Fight Night Round 4 (which won’t be made by the studio that made Round 3, incidentally)? Would you like to see the very first glimpse of the game (possibly including Mike Tyson)? Well, according to a new teaser trailer (embedded after the break), you can see exactly that during the Spike Video Game Awards on December 14 at 9:00pm Eastern. Looks like you’d better clear your calendar right now. Or, you know, you could just wait until the next day when the footage will be all over the internet. It’s your call, really.
HMXHenry just posted a list of next week’s upcoming Rock Band DLC and, just as promised, we’re being treated to a three pack from The Killers! But wait, there’s more …

If you still haven’t gotten your hands on Mirror’s Edge or thoroughly enjoyed the experience, then we advise checking out Brad Borne’s flash game Mirror’s Edge 2D. That’s right, Faith has gone 2D and (in the transition) hasn’t lost any of her running moves.
This 2D remake (which we’re told is developed in partnership with EA) boasts a rather true to life Mirror’s Edge feel and includes all of Faith’s signature moves including the wall climb, power lift and the ever popular ground slide. This flash Mirror’s Edge experience is currently in beta with only the first level playable, but it’ll release in (a free) full version form in the next few weeks. Enjoy the 2D running fun.
Freshly squeezed Rock Band downloadable content just made its way onto the XBLM and, this week, it’s a bitter-sweet mixture of musical goodness. Jam on my wayward son … jam on.
Not to be outdone by Activision’s announcement that The Killers downloadable content is headed to World Tour, Harmonix and MTV Games just informed Wired that they’ll be releasing their own The Killers DLC to the Rock Band music store. Each track is expected to be priced at 160 Microsoft points individually or bundled for 440 points.
